Beware of the perils of inactive citizenship and her evil twin – reactive governance. May we all act in ways that appear to heed our better angels. It’s clearly apparent that everywhere around the world, that unemployment is pervasive.
Could we reconstitute our creative unemployed energy into a Citizens Council with which to meet head-on all of the challenges that beckon on humanity in this day and age?
Can we lay a foundation upon which the next generation can build on? How hard is it to switch to alternative sustainable construction materials systems? What are the specific requisites necessary for the upscaled deployment of clean energy? How do we relieve the unsustainable resource exploitation pressure on our natural systems?
Can we repair the fraying existential representation crisis? Is it possible to put every one who wants to work into dignified employment? Can we restore our dilapidated social compact? How can we lay an infrastructure for extinguishing contagious diseases that include but are not limited to Influenza, Malaria, Cholera, Tuberculosis and Lyme disease?
Can we be good stewards of our environment? What does it take to build a practical community based waste management system? Is it important to restore our degraded lands, polluted waters and endangered carbon sinks?
Let’s get off our high horses, streets and conference halls. We have real work to do. If we must campaign, then let’s fight for a healthy, educated and secure citizenry.
